What type of employee are you ?

Aries Employee Profile (March 21 - April 19) Aries employees make excellent troubleshooters. They'll usually want to be out in the field at a variety of different work sites fixing things. They certainly won't be happy for very long behind a desk in a 9 to 5 schedule. The bored Aries employee who has been forced into a square hole will typically be restless, angry, and careless with details. No amount of money would compensate for being stuck in a routine job. Money in fact isn't why they are working at all. They do want to be paid fairly and need a status position to satisfy their competitive tendencies--but even more importantly, they'll want challenging new projects They typically like to have a sense of responsibility and need to feel needed. In return, they'll give their all and provide detailed, consistent work. They will literally work themselves to exhaustion to prove themselves. If you want to keep your Aries co- worker productive and happy, you...

Beauty of Mathematics

Here are some funny math interesting facts. All the below tricks are based around the sequential manipulation of the numbers being used for input and output. Sequential Inputs of numbers with 8 1 x 8 + 1 = 9 12 x 8 + 2 = 98 123 x 8 + 3 = 987 1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876 12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765 123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654 1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543 12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432 123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321 Sequential 1's with 9 1 x 9 + 2 = 11 12 x 9 + 3 = 111 123 x 9 + 4 = 1111 1234 x 9 + 5 = 11111 12345 x 9 + 6 = 111111 123456 x 9 + 7 = 1111111 1234567 x 9 + 8 = 11111111 12345678 x 9 + 9 = 111111111 123456789 x 9 + 10 = 1111111111 Sequential 8's with 9 9 x 9 + 7 = 88 98 x 9 + 6 = 888 987 x 9 + 5 = 8888 9876 x 9 + 4 = 88888 98765 x 9 + 3 = 888888 987654 x 9 + 2 = 8888888 9876543 x 9 + 1 = 88888888 98765432 x 9 + 0 = 888888888 Numeric Palindrome with 1's 1 x 1 = 1 11 x 11 = 121 111 x 111 = 12321 1111 x 1111 = 1234321 11111 x 11111 = 123454321 111111 x 111111 = 12345654321 1111111...

SixthSense - wearable gestural interface

Image
We've evolved over millions of years to sense the world around us. When we encounter something, someone or some place, we use our five natural senses to perceive information about it; that information helps us make decisions and chose the right actions to take. But arguably the most useful information that can help us make the right decision is not naturally perceivable with our five senses, namely the data, information and knowledge that mankind has accumulated about everything and which is increasingly all available online. Although the miniaturization of computing devices allows us to carry computers in our pockets, keeping us continually connected to the digital world, there is no link between our digital devices and our interactions with the physical world. Information is confined traditionally on paper or digitally on a screen.  SixthSense bridges this gap, bringing intangible, digital information out into the tangible world, and allowing us to interact with this inform...

Who will take the son

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art. When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son. About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands. He said, 'Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for art.' The young man held out this package. 'I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this.' The father opene...

5 Tips to Lower Your Credit Card Bills

In today's economic times, it is not uncommon for people to have a lot of debt; specifically, high-interest credit card debt. The average American has over $8,000.00 in credit card debt and is spending more than they are saving. The point here is that you are not alone, but you do need to break from this trend in order to move forward financially. Here are a few tips to reduce your credit card payments Combine your debts to the lowest APR rate possible.   Find out what interest rate you pay on each card and transfer your balances to the lower rate cards. This act alone can reduce your payments by hundreds of dollars. Negotiate better terms with your current creditors.   Companies including your credit card, mortgage and insurance companies want to keep your business. Many of them will agree to lower your interest rate if tell them you are thinking about leaving them. So call them up and ask them to lower your rate. Pay off the credit with the smallest balance first ...

Have you watched them sleep?

Original Article written by Shakuntala Devi I received a message on my Friendster account the other day. It was one of those forwarded messages, the type I would usually scan briefly before hitting "delete". But this message, written in Bahasa Malaysia, started with a simple question that caught my attention A rough translation of it goes like this: "Have you ever watched your parents as they are asleep? Your father's body once big and strong but now, the big is withered and the strong weakened. Wisps of grey peek out of his hair, wrinkles now "scar" on his forehead and face." "This man works hard every day and would sacrifice anything to make sure his family is provided for and his children get the best education possible." "Or what about your mother, whose soft hands once cuddled and held you close when you were a baby? Now, those hands are dry and rough, bearing evidence of the challenges she faced just for us." "Thi...

About Leadership

Some tips from Robin Sharma, regarding leadership qualities. The Eyes of Leadership The sad fact is that most people see the worst in others - they see them through the eyes of their own anger, fear and limitation. If someone shows up late for a meeting, they impute a negative intent on that person, saying "they are so rude". If someone makes a mistake on an expense report, they grumble "that person is so dishonest". If someone miscommunicates a point, they silently say "she's a liar". Leaders are different. They look for the best in people. I want to be clear. I'm not suggesting that leaders do not confront reality. Not at all. What I'm saying is that the best leaders see through the eyes of understanding. If someone is late, they try to get to the truth. Maybe there's a time management problem to coach around or a sick child to help. An error on an expense account could be the result of a poor process in place or the employee's di...

Good Karma - Instructions for Life

This is what The Dalai Lama has to say for 2008. All it takes is a few seconds to read and think over.  Take into account that Great Love and Great Achievements involve Great RISK . When you lose, don't lose the lesson . Follow the three R's: Respect for self Respect for others Responsibility for all your actions. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly. Don't let a little dispute injure a great relationship. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it . Spend some time alone every day. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. Live a good, honorable life . Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundat...

Srilankan Tamil Crisis - Time is running out

Estimated Tamil people between 230,000 to 300,000 have been trapped in the Vanni conflict zone, denied food and basic living essentials and facing continuous shelling and aerial bombing. No one is there to help the innocent civilians. The cry of infants, children and elderly are not heard by anyone in the world. Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that no one knows how severe the crisis is because the Sri Lankan government has barred local and foreign media from reporting on the subject and severely limited the presence of humanitarian organizations. What is even more disconcerting is that the global mainstream media has largely ignored the Tamil civilian causalities, and has actually praised the Sri Lankan government for "running an effective military campaign." Acts of terrorism from any one are deplorable and cannot be tolerated by any human person; the killing of innocent civilians, under the guise of fighting terror is absolutely ind...

Early Stroke Identification - STR Method

The faster you recognize the signs of a stroke the greater your ability to save a life and lessen the damage from a stroke. Learning the information in this article will help you recognize a stroke so that you can take quick action to counter its effect. If properly treated within a short period of time, it's amazing how modern medicine has progressed in helping people recover from the effects of a stroke. While she appeared a bit shaken, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later to tell everyone that his wife had bee...

Letter by Aziz Premji

Dear Wiproite, My own successes and setbacks along the way have taught me some lessons. I wish to share them with you and hope you will find them useful.    Lesson #1: Be careful to ask what you want. You may get it.  What this means is that do not ask too little either of yourself or the others around you. What you ask is what you get. When I look back at the time when I joined Wipro, I was 21. If you ask me whether I thought that Wipro would grow so by someday, the honest answer is that I did not. But neither did I think it would not. We constantly stretched ourselves to higher and higher targets. Sometimes, it seemed possible, sometimes fanciful and sometimes plain insane. But we never stopped raising limits. And we got a lot more than what we bargained for.    Lesson # 2: Respond, don't react Always be aware of your em...
